A dental implant is an artificial tooth root used in dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth.
An implant is an excellent option to replace a missing tooth or to improve upon a current tooth replacement option, such as a bridge or dentures. A periodontal evaluation will allow us to determine if you are a candidate for an implant.
In order to replace missing teeth with an implant, patients must have a sufficient level of bone in their jaws to support the implants. If a tooth has been missing for several years, there may not be enough bone height to create this support. Martin Periodontics can often correct this with specialized treatment.
Once sufficient bone levels are established, the implant is placed into the patient’s jaw bone. Over the next two to six months, the implant and the bone bond together to form an anchor for the patient’s new tooth. The result is natural-feeling tooth that is sure to restore confidence to any patient’s smile.
